Hitman executive producer Hannes Seifert has shed some light behind IO-Interactive’s decision to make their upcoming stealth game fully episodic instead of an all-in-one release at launch.
In a recent interview with Gamespot, Seifert says the main intention for the approach was so that the studio could “bring Hitman really forward as a franchise.” – believing that having Hitman to release episodically grants the studio opportunities to become ambitious in their gameplay design.
Additionally, Seifert believes that the decision for Hitman will benefit players since the studio will be able to “make much better informed design decisions while the game is running” thus ultimately leading them to developing a better game.
Hitman’s Intro Pack (Prologue Mission and Paris) is scheduled to release on March 11, 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $15. Players are also given the alternative to purchase the full game of Hitman for $60.
