Hi-Rez Studio, the developer behind the popular MOBA Smite, has been teasing their new project lately and before it got its full show at the upcoming Gamescom, IGN managed to get first hand info about the new game named Paladins: Champions of the Realm, which is a free-to-play objective-based team first-person shooter, slated to release in 2016.
Set in a colorful sci-fantasy world, Paladins features strategy combats with various unique champions. Two teams fight in the king of the hill-style to capture points and champion progression is employed in an interesting way by the deckbuilding card system, which augments champion's abilities in different ways. Besides, each champion has its own mount to explore the much bigger open world.
Paladins is still in development for PC and current-gen consoles. Six characters are already revealed: Fernando, Barik, Ruckus & Bolt, Cassie, Pip, and Wog. You can also go to the official website to apply for the beta.
