Last time we reported that open world dinosaur survival game Ark: Survival Evolved had already made $10 million in less than a week. Only a month later, Ark: Survival Evolved has now sold over a million copies, which make it become the 9th open world survival game to sell over a million on PC. Additionally, Studio Wildcard announced that the game is now available for Mac and Linux users through Early Access.
According to PC Gamer's interview, Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak explained that the developer had timed the game’s Early Access release to take advantage of Jurassic World "With the timing of Jurassic World, dinosaurs are really big right now, so that release timing was kind of intentional. We wanted to be out and be the biggest dinosaur game around summertime."
In addition, big updates are coming to Ark over the next couple of months, including a new Swamp biome planned for July, and then a Snow biome that will turn roughly a quarter of the map into a wintry snowscape. More dinosaurs are coming too, and in fact two new aquatic creatures, the Plesiosaurus and the Ichthysaurus, joined the Ark menagerie yesterday.
